The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday summoned Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi and party MP Rahul Gandhi, news agency reported quoting official sources. According to the details, both Sonia and Rahul Gandhi were summoned in connection with a money laundering case relating to the National Herald case.

The case closed by the investigating agency in 2015.

Addressing a press conference, Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala today said ED has given notice to Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.

"Started the National Herald newspaper in 1942, at that time the British tried to suppress it, today Modi govt is also doing the same and ED is being used for this," Surjewala said.

"ED has given notice to our president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi," he added.

"ED is PM Modi's 'paaltu' (pet) and favourite. This is being done to divert attention from issues concerning the public. This government is doing vendetta politics," Surjewala said today.
